Da starrt man auf hunderte fantastische Songs und destilliert unter Tränen die 100 besten heraus.
Die Speedy Wunderground-Crew dominiert dabei natürlich auch hier. Die fast 9 Minuten, in denen Black Country, New Road spoken word post punk jazz (kurz: Swppj) dutzendfach in diesem Jahr in mein Ohr gespült haben, bleibt unerreicht und „Sunglasses“ ein Monstrum dieser Dekade, bei black midi fiel die Wahl auf einen Song, der nicht einmal auf das beste Album des Jahres durfte. Die absurdeste vinyl only 7“ der Schweizer Nicht-Band The Gagosians liefert im Remix einen modernen Cold-Wave-Klassiker, der mit obskur eher dezent umschrieben wird und die neue Düsseldorfer Weirdness bringt Dada-Wave-Pop von Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge auf den Plattenteller.
Der WARP-Geburtstag buddelte nie releaste Highlights der Boards of Canada aus, Flying Lotus lieferte die endgültige Version der „Black Balloons“ und Lukid war seit 9 Jahren nicht so gut wie auf seiner neuen EP. Garage, Bass und Konsorten lieferten vor allem durch überragende Tracks von J Albert, Leon Vynehall, Hoover1, Burial und Stenny ab, während der neue Schwung an Post-Punk und Gitarren-Pop durch neue und alte Held*innen a la Squid, girl in red, Kris Baha, Culk, Famous, Pynch uvm. alles ein bisschen besser machte.
Was noch? Zum Beispiel Helado Negro, zu dem stundenlang auf dem Sofa lümmeln kann, unveröffentlichtem der Halb-Rückkehrer Instra:mental, Bands wie Sistertalk, die es jetzt schon nicht mehr gibt, neuem von The Streets, Geheimtipps, die ein ganzes Jahr reichen (Dive Collate, The Rhythm Method, Meitei oder Sporting Life) und dann haben wir noch immer nicht über FaltyDL, Die Orangen, Shari Vari oder The Chap gesprochen.
Es war ein Jahr voller sensationeller Songs. Es waren Hits dabei und solche, die es nie werden wollten, weil sie eigentlich andere Qualitäten hatten. Songs und Tracks, die da waren, als es darauf ankam. Viel Vergnügen beim Blick in das Tagebuch.
